(“Clean Harbors”), the leading provider of environmental and hazardous waste management services throughout North America, today announced new features to their Online Services that enable Clean Harbors’ customers and staff to easily and efficiently manage the movement and tracking of waste materials. The system employs a comprehensive set of waste and compliance management tools to help companies manage their Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs.
The online management system offers comprehensive waste and compliance management services for environmental managers, engineers, chemists and other professionals who are responsible for on-site management, tracking, removal and disposal of hazardous materials. A seamless management system designed to tie in with Clean Harbors’ removal and disposal services, the online system is free to Clean Harbors customers.
Full Hazardous Waste Lifecycle Management
Hosted by Clean Harbors, the internet based system is a powerful tool that provides full hazardous waste lifecycle management. User accounts are customized and secure; information is confidential and only available to a user through password protection. The system also allows for multiple authorized users per customer, which enables the centralized management of waste over multiple locations, sites and cost centers.
Customers can easily create and submit waste profiles online. Built-in logic assists users to easily maneuver through the application by providing Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) waste codes, state/provincial waste codes, shipping descriptions (Department of Transportation - DOT and Transportation of Dangerous Goods - TDG), and a Chemical Abstract (CAS) number based chemical database. The profile approval process is simplified through the use of online submittal and authorized electronic signatures.
Once profiles are established, customers manage their inventories online by tracking drums and containers located in their satellite and main storage areas. The system displays “where”, “how much”, and “how long” waste is in storage to ensure proper management. In addition, waste materials and costs can be related back to specific customer cost centers and business units to report volumes and allocate costs.
The waste removal process is also streamlined. Because the system contains the necessary profile and inventory data, customers benefit from additional efficiencies and cost savings when they use Clean Harbors for drum disposal or CleanPack® chemists for their lab packing needs. Combined, the profiles and online inventory facilitate safe, efficient handling of chemicals on-site and expedite chemical recognition, packing, and shipping by producing timely and accurate inventories. Whether the customer prints their own shipping labels, packing lists and manifests directly from their online inventories or has Clean Harbors perform this function, the use of Clean Harbors Online Services saves time and expense.
Once waste is received and processed through one of Clean Harbors’ facilities, customers can select from several pre-formatted management reports, including waste tracking, biennial extracts, manifest tracking, inventories and cost center allocations. Many of these reports are available in Excel compatible format. Additionally, users can view and print Adobe Acrobat PDF images of manifests, weight tickets and invoices.
